All’s well in Crazy Old Lady Land…
She’s actually doing great and is having a blast with the kids. I was worried that being out of routine or out of her element would make her worse and anxious. But, she seems to be doing well and really enjoying herself.
Not too many crazy stories, either. I tried my best to get her to bowl on the new Wii last night. That was a no-go. She just looked at me blankly and said, “Huh? What?” And watched the game like she was watching aliens speaking chinese. She had no clue what was going on.
She has trouble following t.v. or a conversation and has trouble coming up with words. She stares at the t.v. with absolutely no understanding at all. But, is very proud of herself when she thinks she gets something… She’ll laugh hard and say something like, in her deep, proper Suthun accent, “Oh my goodness! Did you see that sweet little dancing bear dressed up in a bonnet?” And it was really something like a rabid chihuahua with a sweater on trying to chew someone’s ankle off… Not at all anything like she is describing.
She also likes to repeat the same things over and over. And can’t remember things like how to make coffee or that she has ever had a taco before… “A what? A tocky? What’s that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this before… But it’s good! I’ll have to ask your uncle to make me some tockies sometime.” (We had taco night at her house once a week growing up…) But, other than that, she’s been okay.
I haven’t let her near the laundry, though. And I had to stop her from peaking into the Mister’s very messy bathroom. She’s not making for good blog fodder as of yet. She’ll come through, though, I just know it.
She’s of the Old School Southern Baptist mind, too. Which means, she doesn’t approve of the partaking of the alcoholic beverages. But, I am an adult, and this is my house, so I’m sneaking them. In a red solo cup. And pouring them in the laundry room.
I’ll be back later to report something.
