Along with all of the home improvements we are about to undertake, I would like to finally add some treatments to my dining room windows… I’ve been at a loss as to what to do. I just couldn’t decide. Ask me to decide for someone else, sure, no problem… I go back and forth between liking the windows without anything and wanting to warm it up in there with some fab treatments… I’m on the treatment kick at the moment…
That’s what you can do with a ginormous wall, btw… Fill, fill, fill it up with plates. I have plates all over my house. It’s pretty common now to see them, but my family has had plates up for years. I collect antique china and especially love to display it on the walls… (I collect a zillion different things… But, that’s another post.) Blue Willow, which you see on the wall (only the old stuff…) and Rose Medallion (chinese canton, and only the old stuff…) are my two main collections. There is also a small collection of Indian Tree in my bedroom above my bed (that is about to be moved elsewhere, I have an enormous framed tapestry of my great-grandmother’s to put there.)
I got my love of china from my uncle. Especially my love for canton. He had a rather extensive collection of blue and white canton at one time. But, he has been known to sell his collections from time to time and he only has a few of the rarer pieces left. Anyway, the Rose Medallion is by far my favorite one. I started collecting it as a child. If you are ever looking for something to buy me, you can always buy me a nice, old piece of Rose Medallion!
Also, on my very long wish/to do list is a new (antique, so new to me) dining room table and buffet. This table was my grandmother’s and I love it, but it’s just not big enough. The buffet was the Mister’s grandmother’s and is sort of beaten up…. The china cabinet was my grandmother’s and matches the table. It works for the space.
Anyway, picture overload again… But, I was serious about starting to blog about interiors. Mine and others’. So, there ya go. I’ll have to let you know what I decide about the windows.
